Why all the Cartoon Pictures?
Why all the Cartoon Pictures?
OK, here's a post that should get quite a few comments, and perhaps some choice words! Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that most of the women's blogs now have cartoon characters instead of real pictures? What's up with that?
Are the ladies embarrassed of their own pictures and bodies, so they have to show a cartoon picture instead? I'll admit some of the cartoon pictures are very sexy...but come on now, I'd much rather see a real photo!
Can someone please explain this new trend in blog designs to me please. Your comments are welcome.

coz its cute and colourful. its easier for them to match the cartoon colours with their backgrounds or something like that. It brightens their page rather than some dull snapshot. but hey, its my comment!
LOL because I like to change my picter every so often and I can!
You're quite right. I do like some of the cartoons, but I don't think blogs should be cartoons, they should reflect the owner of the blog and I doubt the cartoons typically do that.
LOL, I kind of have to agree with you, I usually get beaten oN BOB by those gorgeous cartoon gals, sadly my piccy of me is all me on my blog, although somedays I wish I looked like your cartoon gal!
Part of it, I'm sure, is the safety factor. Pretty much nyone can be viewing your blog and finding out intimate details of your life. I doubt they want some stranger to walk up while they're shopping at Wal-mart with the kids to discuss the post they did on their favorite sex toys ;)
You've got to be kidding me. Why is it such a big deal? It's just part of most of their designs and don't even look much like the blogger. In most instances I don't think the blogger INTENDS for them to look like themselves. They just like the image.
I like what surg said up there...it is cute and colorful and it just makes for a good design.
I think being critical of it is just taking blogging WAY too seriously.
(this from a girl who has NO cartoon or photo on her blog)
Hi, Mike. :)
This is the internet and people are allowed to choose their character they want to potray even if it means having sexy cartoons represent them.
Not everyone is comfortable with displaying their pic for the world to see. Maybe if people stop being so judgemental, they might start putting up real photos!
I hope you can understand that.
1. Ummm cause they are pretty? Cool?
or
2. Many prefer to be somewhat anonymous and thus having a representation that they feel is inside?
(too deep huh? okay number one.)
Heee
Must be just a girl thang..
