Don Knotts Dies at 81

"The Andy Griffith Show" is a big deal here in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. In fact, Raleigh was often mentioned on the show. Old Andy, and Barney are sort of folk-heroes in this neck of the woods.

Today I was saddened to learn that Don Knotts passed away at the age of 81. Knotts died Friday night of pulmonary and respiratory complications at a Los Angeles hospital.
He was best know for his roll as the bumbling deputy, Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show".

I also loved him on "Three's Company" where he played the swinging landlord, Ralph Furley. Knotts had more than 25 movies to his credit and 7 TV series. He was one of my all time favorite funny guys! He will be greatly missed, but not forgotten!

The comedian also picked up 5 Emmy Awards as he entertained us for over a half-century. Andy Griffith said, "Don was special, there's nobody like him. We had a long and wonderful life together."
